Friends of the Desert Mountains Series • Water Resources in the Coachella Valley

Friends of the Desert Mountains' Deputy Director Oscar Ortiz will be delivering a presentation that discusses the general concepts of where our water comes from and how our water is used in the Coachella Valley. He will discuss topics such as the Salton Sea, the Colorado River, the underground aquifer, and how we interact with these systems during a time of unprecedented drought.
Ortiz joined Friends of the Desert Mountains in 2022. He studied chemistry at Stanford University and uses his education to improve sustainability in our community as a councilmember for the City of Indio and as an environmental educator in the nonprofit sector.
